Hybrid cars: The new generation is in progress

Automakers worldwide are venturing into technology 'green cars'. In part because they need to keep up with competition in the event that triggers the demand for green cars, and partly because it is 'cool' brand image of being green. Even the Germans can not be left behind.

Yes, now it seems that manufacturers a little more conservative German cars are making good efforts to keep up with the Japanese competition in regard to green vegetables.

Green cars: the second life of hybrid vehicles

Hybrid cars had recently lost some of its principles of its public appeal in the shade of electric cars. But hybrid vehicles are now returning to the stage. And that is a reality thanks to the Germans.

How do the Germans manage to bring new life to the hybrid car market? So I have created some buzz to premiere several new hybrid car models during the International Motor Show (= IAA) in Frankfurt. The show is a great event for the European car market and extends from 15-25 September.

The new German hybrid models: The futuristic Audi A8

The most important IAA debut hybrid technology is the hybrid Audi A8, at least from a German perspective. The twin-engine version of the luxury vehicle will be available in the market in the first half of 2012, probably at a price between 80,000? -? 90000.

Unlike its rivals are already available, the Mercedes S400 Hybrid and BMW 7 Series active hybrid, the automaker's hybrid Audi A8 not only have to use your electric motor to accelerate and scale, which can lead purely electric. The result is a fuel consumption of just 6.4 liters per 100 kilometers. That's what I call a fuel efficient vehicle!

About the Audi A8 hybrid cars

The Audi A8 luxury hybrid vehicle will join a 2.0-liter turbo gasoline engine with an electric motor and generator auto-loading of 1.3 kWh lithium-ion battery pack to realize 37 mpg. That would at least an improvement of 10 mpg in the Audi A8 2012 standard.

The luxury hybrid car will generate a combined equivalent of 245 hp and 345 lb / ft of torque, which ensures strong acceleration. Audi says the A8 hybrid will be able to charge to 62 mph (100 km / h) from standstill in 7.7 seconds with a top speed of 146 mph. Not bad for a green vehicle.
